As a mum to two girls, I have seen my fair share of pink sparkly toys over the years, but nothing as magical and beautiful as the Flutterbye Fairy. The Flutterbye Fairy magically flies with the press of a button, and YOU control her. When Spin Master asked if we wanted try out one of the magical fairies, I didn't have to think about it. It is exactly the kind of toy my girls would love! We received the Flower Fairy which you can buy here for £34.99. She is absolutely beautiful and Tia has claimed her as her own. Abi desperately wants Sunbeam Fairy so we will need to let Santa know!
When the fairy arrived we unboxed her straight away. The fairy needs six AA batteries for the charging base, so once these were fitted we left her to charge. To charge the fairy you need to switch the base on and switch the fairy off. You then add the charging chord to her skirt and allow her to fully charge. There is a small light indicator on the front of the base and the instructions have a clear table telling you what the different light status's mean. When the light turns orange she is fully charged. You will need to remove the charging chord before you can play with her and make sure both the base and fairy switches are set to on. Now she is ready to fly. To launch the fairy, make sure she is set properly in her base and that the base is on a level surface. Press the launch button on the front of the charging base and watch her rise. Once she has fully left the base, use your hand to make her hover.
It took a while to get used to the hand controls, we had a few near misses with the dog and she crashed into most of our walls but after only a few tries we had mastered her flying and have honestly had hours of fun with her since she arrived. I did notice when her power started running out she would rise to the ceiling and stay there, but we soon realised one press of the launch button stops her and she can be caught as she falls down. I am so impressed with how easy the fairy is to use, simple yet effective! My girls are in awe of her, especially Tia! They are both very much into magic and fairies and the fact that the Flower Fairy can fly (almost) unaided is just magical.
Overall we all really, really love this toy. She is pretty and magical, she flies/hovers really well once you know how to control her properly and she charges really quickly (perfect for my impatient little people). The fairy has had many crashes and is still in perfect condition so is really hard wearing and durable. I am so glad we were given the opportunity to try her as I probably would of been a bit skeptical about it! Santa will definitely be bringing another fairy at Christmas so that the girls have one each. Flutterbye currently have 3 different flying fairies to choose from.
