I have always been a fan of board games, especially word games such as Scrabble and Upwords. Now that both of my girls are of school age, they are able to understand and learn how to play a wide array of games, even if they do always have to win! Bananagrams kindly sent us a few of their word games to try out and we cannot get enough of them. Coming from a family of teachers and musicians, education has always played a huge role in my life. I find myself always steering the girls to the educational and factual books when we go to book stores, and fully encourage their desire to learn more. Bananagrams have the perfect balance between fun and educational.
Bananagrams first ever word game was... wait for it.... Bananagrams! First launched back in 2006, it has fast become a modern classic. Bananagrams is a 2-8 player game aimed for ages 7-97! It is a fast paced word game that doesn't go on and on and seem utterly endless (like other word games), a single game of Bananagrams can be finished well within 10 minutes, making it perfect for taking out to restaurants or when visiting family and friends (though if you are anything like us, you won't want to stop playing!). The letters come packed away in a handy banana skin pouch and there is no need for a board or letter tile holders.
Overall we absolutely love this game, and recommend it for anybody that loves to play word games, no matter what their age! It is well designed and made from great quality, durable materials, and what's more, because Bananagrams doesn't have to be played on a board you can swap the rules up slightly to make it easier or or more difficult depending on the players capabilities, our 5 year old is only just learning how to spell so plays her own simplified version of the game, whereas her 8 year old sister loves to play it exactly as instructed.
