This week we have been playing with 'Little Twinkle' a pink mouse, part of the new range of animals available from Character's Little Live Pets range. The new range of Little Live Pets sees an impressive new set of animals (mice) along with their mouse house and this fun trail set - each sold separately! We have enjoyed the previous Little Live Pets Birds and Butterflies and were looking forward to setting up the mouse trail and getting to know 'Little Twinkle'
The mouse trail was pretty tough to put together. My girls (aged 6 and 9) needed a lot of help as the joins are very stiff. The joins need to be aligned properly or the mouse will have difficulty following the trail. Once the trail was put together we opened our mouse and I was glad to see she came with batteries. The batteries will need changing at some point and they each take 3 cell batteries - LR44. The mouse has a little on/off switch on the tip of her nose and as soon as we had turned her on she started squeaking and making rather cute 'mouse' noises! We set her down on the trails and she started whizzing about.
I was quite disappointed with how she works on the trail. The instructions clearly state to make sure all sections are clipped together properly, leaving no gaps and I double checked to make sure ours was. She still didn't run very smoothly though! It took her quite a while to do the full run. She managed the see-saw and in general followed the trail round until she got the domes where she would crash into the sides and spent a lot of time turning over and needing put back on her wheels. She also came off the run a good few times by tipping up over the sides. That said though, the children seemed to enjoy it and the mouse's silliness seemed to add to the fun. I don't think the trail is worth buying though unless add-on sections become available and perhaps the mouse will move better with more space!
Little Twinkle, however, is such a sweet little 'pet' and was a lot of fun to follow along the kitchen floor. She makes a lot of different happy sounds and when she gets ready to shut down you can use the sensors on her back to keep her going. I would definitely buy more mice just to play with on hard surfaces but as for the run I really wasn't impressed! The Little Live Pet Lil' Mouse range is available to buy here and prices start from £9.99. We give the Little Live Pets Mice range three stars for the cute little mice but unfortunately the trail let them down! To find out more about the Little Live Pets range, here are the links:
