We were recently sent the Teksta Robotic Kitty to review from Debenhams. This lovely little kitty arrived on our doorstep just before Christmas and I have to say it has been the best toy we have played with over the festive period (and there has been a LOT of toys). The Teksta kitty is available to buy here for £60.00 and whilst that may seem like a lot of money, she is absolutely worth it... unlike the two doll 'friends' that we bought for the girls for the same price EACH and are the most useless toys I have ever bought!
Teksta Kitty can communicate and respond to your touch, voice and even hand gestures. She comes with her own little robotic mouse that she can carry, play with and feed on! Teksta Kitty can learn a whole host of tricks with some basic training by working through the instructions as well as using an Android or iPad app (not compulsory, the kitty works well without it and is just as much fun!) I couldn't believe how much movement the kitty has! She can waggle her tail, walk, pounce, sit and flap her ears! The robotics are very loud but that's to be expected with a mechanical toy! The box states she interacts with other Teksta products which would be great for siblings or even play dates! The kitty lets you know how she's feeling by her eye patterns. She can purr, cry and even be used as an alarm clock with the aid of the iPad app. Using the iPad app you can also feed kitty, select less movement and meowing (great if you are taking her on holiday etc!) you can also train her and make her dance.
The training was fun to do and whilst my girls still have a lot to do with her, the tricks and training she has done already are great! I love that the kitty can be stopped simply by holding your hand up in front of her (we use this command for our real-life pets too). My favourite trick is when Teksta Kitty leaps up for her mouse and then pounces, it gave me the fright of my life the first time she did it. I didn't expect her to actually leave the ground! She's very impressive. The mouse comes with the three cell batteries required to make it work but the kitty needs four AA batteries which are not included. The batteries are easy to apply in her stomach with a screwdriver. The power button can be found on Kitty's chest area. There are easy-to-use mode buttons on top of Kitty's head, as well as sensors all around her body.
We have been playing with our Teksta kitty for a couple of weeks now and the girls both agree that she is more fun than the toys Santa brought (much to my dismay!) I do wholeheartedly agree though! Teksta kitty deserves more than 5 stars for being such a fun and entertaining toy. She is more life like (cat like!) than I could ever have imagined and the movement and control she has is amazing! Thank you so much to Debenhams for sending us our new robotic pet, she is now a very much loved part of the Mum. Wife. Girl. family.
